A Social Enterprise is … ?

A legitimate business that lives and breathes in the open market, a Social Enterprise exists to improve a part of society.   But more than just having a CSR strategy, this is the number one reason the enterprise is around.

In other words, creating social value is on equal ground (or above?) maximizing profit and return on invested capital.

By running programmes that specifically target their societal gap, the Social Enterprise stays on the front lines.  These companies may support, advise and provide infrastructure for their focus groups… but their strength lies in straight up doing.  This is how they can go beyond understanding the issues, to being able to see it and feel it.

Ultimately, these are the reasons why Social Enterprises are so rare to come by… but also why they can achieve so much more for the world.
